In the afternoon of March 7, 2023, the School of Government held the first alumni symposium. Chen Jialing, an alumnus (2000) of the administration major, was invited to attend the event as a guest. Chen Wen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Deputy Deans Wu Haiyan and Gu Zhijun, Wang Jiawei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Medical School, an alumnus (1997) of the administration major, Counselors Huang Ruibo and Long Yuqi, leaders from the Youth League Committee of the School and student cadres attended the symposium. The symposium was chaired by Professor Chen Wen, Secretary of the Party Committee.

First of all, Secretary Chen Wen introduced the relevant situation of the School of Government from the aspects of the establishment background, discipline construction, talent training, scientific research achievements, etc., and introduced the relevant activity arrangement to the alumni to celebrate the 40^thanniversary of Shenzhen University.

Then, Vice Dean Wu Haiyan introduced in detail the construction and development of relevant disciplines since the establishment of the administration major 30 years ago, and shared hervision for the future development of the school and the major. Alumnus Chen Jialing, Secretary Chen Wen, and DeputyDeans Wu Haiyan and Gu Zhijun exchanged views on the development and major construction of the school, and put forward relevant suggestions on further strengthening the ties between the school and alumni and among alumni in the future.

Then, Teacher Huang Ruibo reported the progress of the establishment of the alumni association of the School of Government, and exchanged views with present teachers and alumnus Chen Jialing on the relevant matters of the establishment of the alumni association.

After that, alumnus Chen Jialing shared his work experience and thoughts after graduation, thanked the school and teachers for their training, and said that he would actively participate in the construction of the school’ alumni association, actively contact and visit alumni, promote exchanges among alumni, and empower each other. At the symposium, alumnus Chen Jialing also had a cordial interaction with the students on site, and put forward many suggestions for the study, work and career planning of the students, encouraging them to take advantage of their youth to try and explore bravely.

At the end of the symposium, Secretary Chen Wen, on behalf of the school, presented the president’s plaque of the first Council of the Alumni Association of the School of Government to alumnus Chen Jialing and took a group photo.

This symposium effectively advanced the establishment of the first Council of the Alumni Association of the School of Government, consolidated the contact platform to facilitate the exchange and cooperation between the school and the alumni, and took the important first step to promote the common development of the school and the alumni.

He graduated from Shenzhen University in 2004, majoring in administration, and served as vice chairman of Guangdong Students’ Federation, Chairman of Shenzhen Students’ Federation and Chairman of the Student Union of Shenzhen University in 2003-2004.

After graduation, he worked in the government for 14 years, including working in the Publicity Department of the Municipal Committee (Cyberspace Administration Office), responsible for organizing the media publicity of the 26^thWorld University Games and won the title of advanced individual in Guangdong Province and Provincial Model Worker.

After resigning in 2017, he became the CEO of Sina Shenzhen, responsible for the operation and management of sina.com and Weibo in Shenzhen, and led the team to achieve leapfrog development. The performance increased tenfold in five years, becoming a legend in the industry. He has innovated media communication forms and made contributions to the international communication of Shenzhen urban image by integrating global media resources both online and offline, and has also made certain contributions to the construction of reputation and communication power of Shenzhen University.

He keeps making earnest efforts to promote public good.In the early stage of the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, when supplies were extremely tight, through various fundraising, he donated 20,000 masks to Jianghan District of Wuhan and 5,000 masks to Shenzhen University , as well as protective clothing and forehead thermometers.
